Prayer to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, like a big sister close to God,
you watch discreetly over us.
May your love for Jesus and Mary
inspire in us the words and deeds of fraternity,
of reconciliation and of forgiveness.
Ask God to give us the courage, the boldness and the strength
to build a world of justice and peace
among ourselves as among the nations.
Like you, we want to go to the encounter with the Lord
who is present in the very depths of nature,
and become witnesses of Life.
With you we offer our praise to the Father, to the Son and to the Spirit.
Amen.

Homily for the Mass of October 21, 2012
In honour of St. Kateri Tekakwitha
In the Church of St. Francis Xavier of Kahnawake
My brothers and sisters,
Just a few hours after the canonization of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the Word of God proposed for this thanksgiving celebration reveals to us the secret of the holiness of the new saint. This secret, according to the Book of Wisdom, resides in the gift of wisdom and of the Holy Spirit who has allowed Kateri to know the will of God. It is precisely this that the first reading tells us : « Who has learned your counsel (Lord), unless you have given wisdom and sent your Holy Spirit from on high?.”
